Lead story

Research infrastructure / Foster City

Gilead opens a 182,000-square-foot research center

Gilead opened a new research center at its Foster City headquarters for oncology, inflammation, and research data science. The company says the building supports approximately 325 employees, including 260 laboratory scientists.

The center is one of three Foster City projects within Gilead's broader $32 billion U.S. investment plan. The company links 3,000 jobs to that domestic program overall—not to this building alone.

Why it matters

An operating research hub concentrates discovery science, translational work, research data science, laboratory operations, and cross-functional development. It supports current teams and future execution, but the announcement did not quantify new hiring at the center.

KRAS oncology / Early clinical data

BBOT reports early BBO-8520 combination data and sharpens its portfolio focus

BBOT reported a 75% objective response rate at 500 mg once daily and 53% across dose levels for BBO-8520 plus pembrolizumab among 17 previously treated, KRAS G12C inhibitor-experienced patients with non-small cell lung cancer. The company also reported a 63% monotherapy response rate among 41 patients.

These are small, company-reported, nonrandomized results and do not establish comparative efficacy. BBOT is prioritizing the combination and says BBO-11818 and BBO-10203 combination cohorts are enrolling in KRAS-mutant cancers.

Radiopharmaceuticals / Phase 1 clearance

Full-Life clears U.S. and Australian regulatory steps for FL-261

Full-Life Technologies says the FDA cleared an IND and Australian authorities cleared a planned first-in-human Phase 1 trial of the actinium-225 radiopharmaceutical FL-261 in c-MET-expressing non-squamous lung cancer.

The multinational study is planned to assess safety, tolerability, dosimetry, and early antitumor activity. Regulatory clearance permits the study to proceed; it does not mean patients have been dosed or efficacy established.

Immunology / Company formation

Schrödinger co-founds Tectora with two programs and $55 million

Schrödinger co-founded Tectora Therapeutics, which secured a $55 million Series A led by NEA and RA Capital. Schrödinger licensed two early immunology and inflammation programs, SDGR-4594 and SDGR-8139, to the new company.

Tectora will also use Schrödinger's discovery experts and platform to move programs toward clinical candidates. The financing supports execution but is not evidence that a larger team is already in place.

Antivirals / Portfolio economics

Assembly elects a 40% U.S. profit share for Gilead's HSV program

Assembly Biosciences exercised an option to share 40% of U.S. development costs and future profits for Gilead's HSV helicase-primase inhibitor program, which includes GS-1179 and GS-5366. Gilead retains sole responsibility for development and commercialization.

A GS-1179 Phase 2 study is expected to begin by year-end. Assembly also expects a separate $75 million collaboration-extension payment in the fourth quarter; the economics and timeline remain prospective.

Wednesday volume rises from last week

JobReports added 887 active biotechnology and pharmaceutical opportunities from 98 employers between midnight Eastern and today's cutoff. That is 24.1% above the comparable Wednesday window one week earlier. Clinical and medical was the largest named role family, followed by commercial and business work.

These are active opportunities first captured by JobReports before cutoff, not employer-supplied posting times. Role-family and location classifications are directional. The hiring sample is independent of today's news announcements and does not imply those companies created these jobs.

The takeaway

New space, early evidence, and funded programs all need disciplined execution.

An operating research center concentrates discovery teams. Early oncology data and a cleared radiopharmaceutical study move clinical work forward with different evidence limits. A new immunology company and an antiviral profit share reshape ownership and priorities. Today's verified openings offer a separate path into clinical monitoring, device development, validation, bioassays, and digital pathology.
