Lead story

Immuno-oncology / Development reset

Immutep narrows efti development after finding manufacturing-scale differences

Immutep said its ongoing review after the early discontinuation of TACTI-004 found structural differences between efti used in that study and material used in earlier studies. The company identified a subtle N-glycan difference associated with the move from 200-liter to 2,000-liter manufacturing.

The company has contracted a new 200-liter manufacturing run and plans to focus future registration-directed work on PD-L1-negative head and neck cancer and neoadjuvant soft-tissue sarcoma. It is preparing for studies targeted to begin in the second half of 2027, subject to study design, regulatory, manufacturing, partnering, and resource decisions.

Why it matters

The reset concentrates near-term work around analytical characterization, process comparability, 200-liter manufacturing, regulatory planning, and two future clinical settings. The analysis is ongoing, and Immutep did not establish that manufacturing differences caused the study outcome.

Drug delivery / Acquisition

COSCIENS acquires Nualtis and its Montreal oral-film manufacturing operation

COSCIENS completed its acquisition of Nualtis, a Montreal oral thin-film specialist with an operating team, an FDA- and Health Canada-inspected GMP facility, pharmaceutical R&D and analytical services, and commercial manufacturing capability. The disclosed cash purchase price is US$15 million before customary adjustments, with US$9 million paid at closing and US$6 million deferred for six months.

COSCIENS expects Nualtis to move toward more commercial-scale manufacturing revenue. That is forward-looking; the release did not announce headcount additions or guarantee expansion.

Cell therapy / Trial clearance

FDA clears a CU Anschutz dual-target CAR T trial for solid tumors

University of Colorado Anschutz said the FDA granted permission for a trial of engineered CAR T cells in adults with advanced colorectal cancer and pediatric patients with solid cancers who have exhausted standard options. The cells target B7-H3 and IL-8 and will be made at the campus's Gates Biomanufacturing Facility.

The institution expects the trial to begin in December. Clearance allows testing to proceed; it is not evidence of safety or efficacy in patients.

Generics / Commercial launch

Renova launches its first three U.S. generic medicines

Renova Pharmaceuticals announced U.S. commercial launches of L-glutamine for oral solution, dimethyl sulfoxide irrigation 50%, and ascorbic acid injection. The company said additional sterile-injectable, ophthalmic, complex-generic, and oral products are in development or FDA review.

The launches mark a move into active commercialization. Renova did not disclose launch volumes or a quantified hiring plan.

Regenerative medicine / Enrollment

Resolution completes enrollment in its first-in-human RTX001 study

Resolution Therapeutics said the final patient has been treated in EMERALD, a multi-center, single-arm, open-label Phase I/II study of engineered macrophage therapy RTX001 in end-stage liver disease. Fifteen patients were dosed, with interim clinical data expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The company plans a U.S. pivotal study in 2027 after a pre-IND meeting and further design and site decisions. RTX001 remains investigational, and enrollment completion is not a data readout.

Friday volume rises from last week

JobReports added 772 active biotechnology and pharmaceutical opportunities from 102 employers between midnight Eastern and today's cutoff. That is 24.3% above the 621 opportunities in the comparable Friday window one week earlier. Clinical and medical was the largest named role family, followed by commercial and business work.

These are active opportunities first captured by JobReports before cutoff, not employer-supplied posting times. Role-family and location classifications are directional. The hiring sample is independent of today's news announcements and does not imply those companies created these jobs.

The takeaway

A reset, an acquisition, and three program transitions sharpen the work ahead.

Immutep's development reset emphasizes comparability and manufacturing discipline. COSCIENS brings oral-film capabilities under one owner, while a trial clearance, three generic launches, and completed enrollment move distinct programs into their next execution phases. Today's verified openings offer a separate route into formulation, safety, commercialization, regulatory strategy, and pharmacy operations.
