Reckitt maps up to $600 million for U.S. R&D and manufacturing

Reckitt announced a phased, multi-year investment of up to $600 million across a New Jersey campus and a North Carolina over-the-counter medicine facility. At the campus, it plans a science and innovation center after relocating commercial and operational teams. In North Carolina, it plans more production capacity for Mucinex tablets and liquids and Move Free.

The North Carolina facility is scheduled to open in the first half of 2027. That is a future target, not current operating capacity. The announcement did not provide a new job count or an immediate hiring timetable.

Why it matters

The two-site plan identifies where future research, process engineering, quality, and manufacturing work may concentrate. Job seekers can watch those functions as projects advance, while treating today's announcement as a capacity plan rather than a list of new openings.

Neuroscience / Phase I-II

Skyhawk reports final 15-month SKY-0515 analysis

In Huntington disease, Skyhawk reported a 1.59-point difference in change from baseline on a combined function score versus a weighted external natural-history group. Fifteen treated participants had a month-15 measure.

The long-term comparison was not randomized against placebo, so it cannot establish efficacy. Skyhawk's separate Phase 2/3 program continues; this underscores the need for rigorous clinical operations and biometrics, without indicating new hiring.

Respiratory / Phase IIb

SpliSense starts a mutation-specific cystic-fibrosis study

SpliSense initiated the Phase 2b part of its SPL84 trial for people with the 3849+10kb C→T CFTR mutation who are already taking a stable modulator therapy. About 40 participants are expected in the randomized, blinded study of weekly inhaled treatment.

Safety and tolerability are the primary objective; topline data are expected in the second half of 2027. Trial execution and respiratory bioanalysis are relevant skills, but SpliSense announced no staffing plan with this milestone.

Portfolio / Cell therapy

Tempest takes an option on a second in vivo CAR-T approach

Tempest secured an exclusive option to license Senlang's CD7-targeted lentiviral platform. The portfolio includes a dual-targeting multiple-myeloma candidate in Phase 1 dose escalation.

The option is not a completed license. If exercised, the platform would complement Tempest's lipid-nanoparticle approach and could demand vector, CMC, and translational coordination. The release states no hiring or transaction terms.

Biopharma hiring pulse

Wednesday volume edges above last week

JobReports added 796 active biotechnology and pharmaceutical opportunities across 95 employers between midnight Eastern and today's cutoff. That is 10.7% above the 719 opportunities in the comparable Wednesday window one week earlier. Commercial and business is the largest named role family in this directional title-based view, followed by clinical and medical and manufacturing and operations.

These are active opportunities first captured by JobReports before cutoff, not employer-supplied posting times. Role-family and location classifications are directional. The hiring sample is independent of today's news announcements and does not imply those companies created these jobs.

The takeaway

Capacity plans and trial work point to different timelines.

Reckitt's two-site investment has a 2027 manufacturing target, while Skyhawk and SpliSense are still testing investigational therapies and Tempest holds an option rather than a completed license. The active job shortlist offers a separate, immediate view of analytical science, process development, manufacturing, safety, and clinical operations.
