Acquisition / Clinical capital
Lisata acquires Marea and signs a $225 million financing agreement
Lisata said it has acquired Marea Therapeutics in a stock-for-stock transaction. At the same time, it signed a private-placement agreement expected to bring in approximately $225 million before expenses. The combined company intends to focus on Marea's cardioendocrine antibody programs, including MAR001/005 for severe hypertriglyceridemia and MAR002 for acromegaly.
Lisata plans to use most of the net proceeds to advance an ongoing Phase 2b study of MAR001 and a Phase 2 study of MAR002. It expects both studies to report topline data in the fourth quarter of 2027. The financing proceeds are expected, while the acquisition is complete. The release does not specify staffing changes or new openings.
Why it matters
This is a specific two-program clinical plan, giving job seekers a reason to watch cardioendocrine trial operations, biometrics, CMC, and regulatory work as milestones approach. The transaction alone is not evidence that the combined company is hiring.

GMP / Biologics services
GBI maps a smaller-scale path to clinical material
GBI Biomanufacturing announced SmartScale, a small-scale GMP biologics platform built with technologies from ATUM and Thomson Instrument Company. It plans to showcase the service at BioProcess International East next week. The offering combines cell-line development, process scale-up and manufacturing for early clinical programs.
GBI says the platform can deliver GMP material for first-in-human studies in as little as eight months; that is a company target, not an independent performance result. No facility expansion or hiring plan was announced.
Oncology / Regulatory
Nuvation adds longer follow-up to IBTROZI's FDA label
Nuvation said the FDA approved a supplemental application updating IBTROZI's label with a 49.7-month median duration of response in treatment-naive patients from the TRUST-I study. The medicine was already approved for advanced ROS1-positive lung cancer; this decision updates the supporting label data rather than adding a new indication.
The release reported no change to the safety sections. Medical affairs and regulatory teams may use the longer follow-up, but Nuvation did not announce new roles with this approval.
Discovery / Immunology
Dualitas and Roche set a bispecific discovery agenda
Dualitas agreed to screen more than 300,000 bispecific antibody combinations for immunology and inflammation programs with Roche. Dualitas is set to receive $36.5 million upfront; Roche will take on subsequent preclinical, regulatory, manufacturing and commercial activities.
Further payments could lift the deal's potential value to $1 billion if milestones are met. That figure is contingent. The work points to antibody discovery and translational capabilities, but the release contains no hiring commitment.
Thursday hiring rises from last week
JobReports added 776 active opportunities at employers categorized biotechnology or pharmaceutical across 105 employers between midnight Eastern and today's cutoff. That is 22.6% above the 633 opportunities in the comparable Thursday window one week earlier. Clinical and medical is the largest named role family in this directional title-based view, followed by commercial and business and manufacturing and operations.
These are active opportunities first captured by JobReports before cutoff, not employer-supplied posting times. Role-family and location classifications are directional. The hiring sample is independent of today's news announcements and does not imply those companies created these jobs.

The takeaway
Watch clinical milestones and active roles separately.
Lisata and Marea have a defined clinical program and proposed financing, GBI plans to show a manufacturing platform next week, Nuvation has an updated FDA label, and Dualitas has a funded research partnership. None of those releases ties its milestone to today's openings. The verified job shortlist offers an immediate view across clinical data, oligonucleotide research, quality, manufacturing planning, and trial operations.
